File requirements

Supply your own lawfully obtained Xbox 360 Forza Horizon disc image, Games on Demand package or extracted folder. Supply Title Update 4 and DLC separately; Horizon Rally and the 1000 Club need TU4. Allow about 4 GB free RAM and 15 GB disk space. The Vulkan path needs Vulkan 1.3; Windows also offers Direct3D 12. Initial setup needs compiler tools to be downloaded or installed.

What it recreates

Uses ReXGlue to statically recompile the Xbox 360 PowerPC program to C++, generating the game on the player’s computer from their own files. It is an independent, unofficial project.

What’s different

Adds community online free roam, co-op events, leaderboards and high-frame-rate options. v0.2.0 adds car tuning, a 1,000-car garage and experimental VR. Performance depends on the device.

What you can use today

v0.2.0 provides a Windows installer, Linux x86-64 archive and Flatpak. The launcher generates and compiles the game locally from your own files; rebuild once after updating. macOS remains a source-build experiment with no Mac download. Steam Deck and low-end performance remains limited, with graphics or crash issues on some GPUs. The author tested VR on Quest 3 with Linux WiVRn; Windows VR is untested. Full races, save reloads and physical controllers still need validation on macOS. TU4 and base-game players use separate online rooms, and TU4 saves cannot simply return to the base game. RemakeList has not built or played it.
