What it recreates

It aims to provide a free, open-source option for lightweight video-editing workflows associated with CapCut.

What’s different

The official app opens in a browser, while the main project is moving toward a Rust core with plugins and automation. Those are next-version goals, separate from the current experience.

What you can use today

The official site currently offers the classic early beta. The classic source is archived and the new version is being rewritten; it is a candidate to explore, without assuming it can fully take over a daily CapCut workflow.

Sources & notesSources checked:

The official repository calls it an open-source CapCut alternative and distinguishes the hosted classic version from the ongoing rewrite. The repository license is MIT.
