File requirements
Your own legally obtained MAME vf2 Version 2.1 ROM set, vf2.zip, is required. The project ships no ROMs or material generated from them. Online peers must use the same ROM set. Linux ARM64 instructions target Raspberry Pi 5 and Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 or Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm and later.

What it recreates
Recompiles the game’s Intel i960 program into native code at startup from your ROM. The other Model 2A board components still run MAME-derived code inside an SDL 3 host; this is not an entirely emulation-free replacement.
What’s different
Adds render scaling up to 6x, widescreen and ultrawide presentation, modern controllers, local two-player matches and experimental room-code or random-opponent rollback play. Arcade game logic remains at 57.5 fps; smoother display presentation is separate.
What you can use today
v0.1.16 provides Windows 10/11 x64, macOS 11+ Universal, Linux x64/Steam Deck and Linux ARM64 archives. Supply your own MAME vf2 Version 2.1 ROM set, vf2.zip. Mac and Windows builds are unsigned. Online play remains experimental and both players need matching ROMs and compatible releases; direct matches expose your IP to the opponent, while Hide my IP address uses a relay. Native Steam Deck setup must follow the Linux guide. RemakeList has not installed or played it.
